Junior Instructor at International Self Defense Institute

November 2009 – February 2011

San Mateo, CA

After training in the martial arts style of shotokan karate and shoulin kempo for six years I received seven of the ten belts. Once the seventh belt is achieved I, and the ranks the same and above me, were asked to teach the students in the classes trying to achieve their first few belts. When instructing I did the following:

  • Assisted Sensei Todd Jones in:
    • teaching my own 5-6 groups students the basic  stances, punches, kicks, techniques, and body-weight exercises
    • monitoring inclass whole or partial group activities to ensure no students hurt themselves or another
    • lead a groun 5-6 students in exercise building activities
    • disciplines, via push-ups, students who were disrupting the class
