UCSC Class Description

“Covers designing “doable” ICT-based projects to support the goals of community and NGOs. Topics include: social entrepreneurship/enterprise case studies; step-by-step project design; integrating social and technical solutions; project management. Technical topics include: Internet resources; advanced web/database design; computer networks/maintenance.”

What I did

This class is structured as a lecture tuesday’s from 6-7:45pm and a tech lab thursday’s 6-7:45pm.

This class is the second of a three part series for the Everett Program. Check out their website at everettprogram.org.

  • In the lecture part, I learned what constitutes a feasible ICT-based social enterprise project. Through case studies and one page write up’s on the readings I as was able to learn about social entrepreneurship/enterprise case studies; step-by-step project design; integrating social and technical solutions; project management,
  • In the tech lab part, I took ‘Introduction to Web Design’. I hard coded my own html webpage,  learned how to buy my own hosting and domain name, and learned how to use WordPress

Since learning and going through this program, I  have become a fellow and integral member of the internal tech team.
